RENA Technologies Secures 1.2 GW TOPCon Wet Processing Equipment Order from CELLORAA ENERGY, SURAT, GUJARAT

RENA Technologies, a leading manufacturer of wet processing equipment for semiconductor and photovoltaic production, today announced the signing of a major contract with CELLORAA ENERGY PRIVATE LIMITED for the supply of advanced wet chemical processing systems to support a new 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing line at Surat, Gujarat, India, first of its kind in Gujarat

The partnership was initiated during a handshake agreement at the TaiyangNews Solar Technology Conference India 2026 in Delhi early February 2026, culminating in the formal contract signing on February 24, 2026.

Under the agreement, RENA Technologies will supply its latest generation wet processing equipment, including InEtchSide 4+, BatchPolyClean N600, BatchEtch N600, BatchTex N600. 
The systems will support the production of high-efficiency TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cells, representing the latest advancement in crystalline silicon solar cell manufacturing technology. Start of cell production is targeted for end of FY 2026-27.


Advanced, Sustainable Wet Processing Technology

The selected equipment platforms are specifically engineered for maximum water efficiency, delivering substantial ~ 50% reduction in water consumption and wastewater generation. These water-saving innovations significantly lower operational expenditures (OPEX) while supporting sustainable manufacturing practices—such as Zero Liquid Discharge—an increasingly critical factor in gigawatt-scale PV production.

Additionally, the integrated processes are designed to be H₂O₂-free, eliminating the need for hydrogen peroxide in key wet chemical steps. This approach, originally adopted from the semiconductor industry, offers several advantages:

  • Lower hazardous chemical storage requirements

  • Reduced regulatory burden and simplified logistics

  • Decreased chemical waste streams

  • Enhanced environmental compatibility

  • Long standing expertise at RENA in Semiconductor and PV

 

By combining high-efficiency processing with environmentally responsible engineering, the systems enable manufacturers to achieve superior cell performance while maintaining competitive production costs.

As one of the few companies in India with freedom to operate the patented water-capping technology—in RENA tools known as RFL technology—CELLORAA is perfectly positioned to maintain a future-ready production line.

To support CELLORAA’s rapid ramp-up plans, RENA Technologies will provide local service and support in India through its long-standing partner, International Marketing Corporation (IMC), Mumbai as well as digital smart service, ensuring fast response times, reliable maintenance minimized downtime and process support. The localized support structure contributes to lower lifecycle costs and operational security.

 

Strategic Partnership

For future cooperation RENA and CELLORAA are planning a strategic partnership to jointly advance next-generation solar manufacturing technologies. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is currently in preparation, with signing anticipated in the weeks following Intersolar 2026. The partnership will focus on the improvement and further development of RENAs water-saving technologies, comprehensive process optimization, and the preparation of production lines for next-generation solar cell concepts such as IBC (Interdigitated Back Contact) cells. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to strengthen innovation, enhance sustainability, and drive technological leadership in advanced solar cell manufacturing.
